An Iranian missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia wounded at least 10 U.S. service members and damaged several refueling aircraft, escalating a month-long conflict that has killed 13 U.S. troops and sent global fuel prices skyrocketing due to Iran's chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz.
This attack follows a previous incident on March 1 where Army Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington was wounded and later died, contributing to over 300 U.S. service members wounded in the conflict, with 30 remaining out of action and 10 seriously wounded.
Despite President Donald Trump's claims of Iran's military neutralization, the Pentagon is deploying an additional 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division and approximately 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors to the Middle East. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that U.S. objectives can be achieved without ground troops.
While the Trump administration offered a 15-point ceasefire plan via Pakistan, Iran denies negotiations, though it agreed to facilitate humanitarian and agricultural shipments through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
