Key Takeaway

This acquisition signals a definitive trend towards consolidation and technological advancement within the investor services sector. It means increased competition and innovation for existing financial services providers, particularly those in registry and fund administration, and presents significant growth opportunities for technology-driven platforms. This transaction also highlights private equity's continued strong appetite for scalable, tech-enabled business services in the APAC region and beyond.

Global private equity firm Advent acquired Automic Group, a market-leading Australian investor administration and services platform, from founding investors ADBO Group, Five V Capital, and Automic team members, accelerating Automic's growth strategy and international expansion plans.

Automic Group, founded in 2014 by Paul Williams, provides investor services through its cloud-native technology platform, streamlining shareholder management, fund administration, share plans, reporting, and analytics. The company supports over 1,400 companies and funds across Australia and New Zealand, with its technology designed for portability and scalability into new markets.

Automic's registry division serves a broad corporate base, including ASX200 companies, and holds ISO 27001 certification for information security. Advent's investment will support further technology and Artificial Intelligence development, alongside the planned international expansion.

Automic Group Executive Chair Paul Williams stated the partnership with Advent marks the next step in their journey towards global opportunities. Automic Group CEO David Raper affirmed Advent's investment endorses their best-in-class technology platform.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Automic was advised by Goldman Sachs, Privatus Capital Partners, and Gilbert + Tobin.
