United Airlines Holdings, Inc.
(UAL) announced on April 3, 2026, the introduction of a new tiered fare structure for its premium cabins, including United Polaris and United Premium Plus, on long-haul international, transcontinental U.S., and select Hawaii flights, aiming to provide customers with more options and flexibility. The airline will offer "base," "standard," and "flexible" fare options, mirroring its existing basic, standard, and flexible fares in economy cabins.
The "base" option provides the lowest price point, while "standard" includes perks like free seat selection and additional checked bags. "Flexible" tickets are fully refundable and encompass all standard benefits.
Notably, customers purchasing standard or flexible United Polaris fares on specific transcontinental U.S. and longer Hawaii flights will gain access to the United Polaris lounge, whereas "base" Polaris customers will access the United Club. United redesigned its website and mobile app shopping pages to accommodate these changes, with a rollout beginning in select markets this month and expanding later this year.
Andrew Nocella, United's Chief Commercial Officer, stated these options offer customers more choice and make it easier to find a fare with desired benefits, whether value, perks, or flexibility. This strategy aims to enhance revenue management and cater to diverse customer preferences across its most lucrative routes.
