The Middle East conflict has dramatically escalated, with intense Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran's capital, Tehran, and Lebanon's Beirut, while the US reportedly struck an Iranian drone carrier at sea.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned of a "dramatically surging" bombardment. Israel claims to have destroyed most of Iran's air defenses and missile launchers.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks into Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, all hosting US forces, though no immediate casualties were reported in these attacks. The conflict has already claimed at least 1,230 lives in Iran, over 120 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel, alongside six US troops.
The US also confirmed sinking an Iranian frigate earlier in the week, killing 87 sailors. President Trump urged Iranians to "take back" their country, promising immunity, while Iran's ambassador to Egypt denied any request for talks, citing a lack of trust.
The UN human rights chief urged de-escalation, highlighting the severe humanitarian impact and displacement.
