Iranian students commenced the new university term with protests at multiple campuses, including Sharif University of Technology, Beheshti University, Amir Kabir University, and Mashhad University.
Clashes were reported between students and pro-government Basij groups, with state-affiliated media alleging protesters threw rocks. Chants critical of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were prominent, with some invoking the name of exiled monarch Reza Pahlavi.
The protests occurred in the context of ongoing unrest and mourning ceremonies for those killed in previous demonstrations. Unrest was also noted in the western town of Abdanan following the arrest of an activist teacher.
