Ukraine dispatched expert teams and interceptor drones to the Middle East, including Jordan, to assist the US and other Arab nations in countering Iran's drone attacks, responding to 11 requests for its defense expertise following escalating regional tensions and a US-Israeli offensive against Iran that killed over 1,300 people.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a Ukrainian team departed for Jordan on March 6, 2026, after a US request on March 5, bringing interceptor drones. Zelenskyy stated Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia also requested assistance.
Another group of Ukrainian experts will travel to the region to assess cost-effective drone defense capabilities, avoiding expensive Patriot interceptors. Zelenskyy also asked Arab leaders to press Russia for a ceasefire, enabling Ukraine to reallocate forces to assist against Iran.
Ukraine has received 11 requests from Iran's neighboring countries, European nations, and America for its experience in protecting life, interceptors, electronic warfare systems, and training, and is responding positively to those who support its independence. Regional tensions escalated on February 28, 2026, after US and Israeli attacks on Iran killed over 1,300 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, prompting Iranian drone and missile strikes on Israel and Gulf countries.
