Russia has been sharing intelligence with Iran regarding the locations of US forces in the Middle East, including warships and aircraft, since February 28.
This assistance aims to help Tehran counter "Operation Epic Fury," a series of US and Israeli airstrikes that have reportedly hit 4,000 Iranian targets between February 28 and March 3. Despite this Russian aid, US officials, including President Trump and War Secretary Pete Hegseth, claim the US military has achieved "total dominance" over Iran.
The White House downplayed the intelligence sharing's effectiveness, asserting that US military objectives are being met. The Kremlin, conversely, denounced the US actions as "unprovoked aggression." This intelligence cooperation highlights deepening ties between Russia and Iran, particularly as Moscow relies on Tehran for military supplies in its ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and signals a significant escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
