Bob McClure, formerly OpenAI's chief research officer, is launching Arda, an AI and software platform startup focused on automating manufacturing.
The company is reportedly raising $70 million at a $700 million valuation, attracting significant investment from Founders Fund, Accel, Khosla Ventures, and XYZ Venture Capital. Arda's innovative approach involves developing a video model to analyze factory floor footage, which will then be used to train robots for autonomous operations.
The platform aims to streamline the entire production lifecycle, from product design to final delivery, by coordinating both machines and human workers. This initiative is strategically positioned to make manufacturing in the Western Hemisphere more cost-effective, potentially addressing supply chain resilience and reshoring trends.
