Huawei, a Chinese technology giant, reported an 8.7% increase in net profit to 68 billion yuan ($9.8 billion) in 2025, with revenue growing slightly by 2.2% to 880.9 billion yuan, primarily driven by significant expansion in its intelligent automotive solution business.
This financial rebound marks a steady comeback for Huawei following U.S. sanctions imposed since 2019, which restricted its access to advanced American technology, including chip-making equipment. The company's intelligent automotive solution business was its fastest-growing segment, with revenue soaring 72% last year to 45 billion yuan, providing software and services for autonomous driving functions in cars.
By the end of 2025, 35 vehicle models were equipped with Huawei's autonomous driving solution, and its Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance partners delivered 589,100 vehicles, a 32% increase from the previous year. Huawei also significantly increased its research and development expenses by 7% to 192.3 billion yuan, representing 21.8% of revenue, as it invests in networking technology to bundle chips and boost computing capabilities, aiming to offer an alternative to U.S.-made Nvidia chips.
