Government ShutdownHomeland SecurityTSA PreCheck

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced on Sunday that its PreCheck program would continue to operate, contradicting an earlier statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that the program would be suspended due to the ongoing partial government shutdown.

DHS had indicated that PreCheck and Global Entry services would be halted as an emergency measure to conserve funds and reallocate personnel. The TSA stated that it would assess staffing constraints on a case-by-case basis and adjust operations accordingly.

It remains unclear if Global Entry will be affected. The shutdown, which began on February 14th, stems from a funding dispute between Democrats and the White House over immigration policy.

In addition to potential PreCheck and Global Entry suspensions, the TSA has already suspended courtesy escorts for officials like Members of Congress to prioritize core security missions.
