Century Aluminum and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) formed a joint development agreement to construct the first new U.S. aluminum smelter in 50 years in Inola, Oklahoma, projected to produce 750,000 tonnes annually and more than double U.S. primary aluminum production.
The American Primary Aluminum Association (APAA) applauds this investment, which generates an annual economic impact of billions and creates over 1,000 permanent jobs and 4,000 construction jobs. APAA President Mark Duffy states that President Trump's 50% Section 232 aluminum tariff is the "rocket fuel" propelling this historic growth, delivering billions in new investment and strengthening U.S. economic and national security.
Engineering work has commenced, with construction expected to begin by the end of 2026, ensuring the U.S. remains a major player in the aluminum industry for many years.
