The number of female billionaires globally has seen a significant increase, reaching 406 in 2025, representing approximately 13.4% of all billionaires.

This growth is attributed to several factors, including a substantial wave of intergenerational wealth transfers, with 27 female heirs becoming billionaires in 2025 alone. Entrepreneurship and brand building also contribute, with self-made women increasingly reaching billionaire status, particularly in sectors like consumer goods, retail, healthcare, and tech.

The Asia-Pacific region is experiencing the fastest growth in female billionaires due to economic expansion and rising company valuations. While North America still holds the largest concentration, emerging markets are showing notable increases.

Despite this rise, women still constitute a small percentage of the global billionaire population, and a majority of these women are heirs rather than self-made, highlighting persistent inequalities in wealth creation pathways. The trend signifies a redistribution of economic power and influence, impacting corporate governance and philanthropy.
