Thales, the French aerospace and defense group, reported a 27% organic surge in first-quarter orders, reaching 4.65 billion euros, primarily driven by robust demand for air defense systems and radar technology, although this figure slightly missed analyst forecasts of 4.85 billion euros.
The defense segment was a significant performer, with orders organically jumping 75% to 2.24 billion euros, securing five contracts each exceeding 100 million euros, including deals with the Danish Ministry of Defense for SAMP/T NG air defense systems and the Qatar Emiri Air Force for Ground Master radar systems. The company stated that recent global events reinforce the relevance of its solutions, particularly in air surveillance and defense.
While aerospace orders saw a modest 1% organic growth to 1.52 billion euros, the cyber and digital division experienced a 1% contraction to 857 million euros. First-quarter sales increased 9.7% organically to 5.32 billion euros, with defense sales growing 14.3% organically to 3.05 billion euros.
Thales confirmed all its full-year 2026 targets.
