Donald Trump publicly demanded that Netflix "immediately" fire board member Susan Rice or "pay the consequences," citing her comments about corporate accountability for those who skirted regulations under his administration.

This demand comes as Netflix is in the process of acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery's studios and streaming services for $83 billion, a deal facing regulatory scrutiny.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos downplayed Trump's intervention, characterizing the acquisition as a business matter overseen by the Department of Justice and global regulators, not a political one. Sarandos defended the Netflix deal against a rival $108 billion bid from Paramount, highlighting Netflix's growth strategy and arguing that horizontal mergers like Paramount's are detrimental to consumers and creators.

He also addressed concerns about foreign sovereign wealth fund involvement in rival bids and defended Netflix's commitment to theatrical releases and local content production.
