Pentagon Rejects Trump's Greenland Hospital Ship Claim; No Orders Issued, Vessels Docked

Officials confirmed that no instructions have been issued to send a Navy ship to the Danish territory. Both U.S. Navy hospital ships are currently docked at a shipyard in Alabama.

The claims by Trump, who posted an image of the USNS Mercy, were made around the same time the Danish military conducted an emergency medical evacuation near Greenland. Leaders in Greenland and Denmark, including Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, have stated that Greenland has a public health system providing free care and does not require a U.S. hospital ship.

The situation arises amidst ongoing tensions related to Trump's past interest in acquiring Greenland.
