Meta Platforms and EssilorLuxottica announced significant advancements for their Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, including new AI features like real-time translation and video input, expanded product offerings such as transparent Wayfarer limited editions and Transitions GEN S lenses, and new partner integrations with Spotify, Amazon Music, and Be My Eyes, extending their collaboration into the next decade.
The partnership, recently extended for the long term, focuses on developing multi-generational smart eyewear products. Ray-Ban Meta glasses, featuring a 12MP camera and open-ear speakers, will soon support voice commands for Spotify and Amazon Music.
Meta AI capabilities are expanding beyond caption writing and object identification to include setting reminders and continuous real-time assistance via video input. A key upcoming feature is real-time speech translation for Spanish, French, and Italian into English.
EssilorLuxottica also debuted a transparent Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer limited edition and integrated Transitions GEN S lenses, offering ultra-responsive light adaptation in eight colors. Furthermore, a partnership with Be My Eyes will provide hands-free assistance for people with visual impairments.
