London Mayor Sadiq Khan's office publicly distanced the city government from the 2026 Wireless Festival's decision to feature Kanye West as a headliner for three July concerts, citing the artist's "offensive and wrong" past actions and antisemitic outbursts.
The festival announced West's headlining shows, marking his first U.K. performance in 11 years, which immediately drew backlash. The Jewish Leadership Council stated the festival's decision to spotlight West is "deeply irresponsible" given his history of antisemitic and pro-Nazi messaging, as reported by The Guardian.
West recently released his 12th studio album, "Bully," and has two upcoming concerts at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium on April 1 and April 3. In late January, West took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal to apologize for his antisemitic rants, attributing them to a "four-month-long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior" in 2025 that caused him to lose touch with reality.
He told Vanity Fair that his apology was not an attempt to "revive" his "commerciality," citing his strong streaming performance in 2025 and high anticipation for "Bully."
