Danish energy trading firm InCommodities has finalized a landmark $200 million long-term battery storage agreement with Vena Group for the 204MW Bellambi Heights Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in New South Wales, Australia.
Announced during a Danish Royal State visit, the deal highlights deepening international cooperation in renewable energy. InCommodities, leveraging its European expertise in volatile, renewable-heavy markets, provides revenue certainty through a Revenue Share Agreement, focusing on energy risk management rather than asset operations.
The BESS, expected to be fully operational by mid-2027, will capture excess daytime solar generation to power 280,000 homes for approximately 2.5 hours, providing critical firming capacity for a region rich in solar assets. This partnership elevates InCommodities' total Australian investment commitment to nearly $500 million, supporting 700MW of renewable assets and targeting 2GW of long-term PPAs by 2028.
The agreement reinforces InCommodities' pivotal role in Australia's energy transition by offering bankable trading and risk-management solutions, crucial for grid stability and attracting further investment in the rapidly evolving clean energy market.
