The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, has accused Rwanda of violating a US-brokered peace agreement signed on December 4th.

Tshisekedi claims the Rwandan army fired heavy weapons into Congo the day after the agreement, causing damage and violating the ceasefire. Rwanda's Foreign Minister has dismissed these accusations as "ridiculous" and an attempt to shift blame.

The agreement aims to end a long-standing conflict in eastern Congo, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions displaced. Violence persists in the region, with ongoing clashes between the M23 rebel group and government forces.

Separately, Burundi has also accused Rwanda of "destabilizing activities" on its border with Congo, despite the peace deal.
