Anthropic is accelerating its initial public offering plans, targeting an October debut on the U.S. stock market to raise over $60 billion, as it intensely competes with OpenAI for investor capital and market dominance in the rapidly expanding enterprise AI sector.
The company's valuation reached $380 billion after a $30 billion Series G funding round last month, co-led by MGX, Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, and Coatue Management. Anthropic's annualized revenue, according to research firm EpochAI, surpassed $1 billion at the end of 2024, exceeded $9 billion at the end of last year, and reached $14 billion in February, demonstrating a tenfold annual growth rate that outpaces OpenAI's 3.4 times annual growth.
Anthropic strengthens its enterprise AI market position with tools like Claude Code and Claude Co-work. OpenAI, aware of Anthropic's pursuit, reorganizes its business for profitability, focusing on coding and enterprise AI, and introduced ads within ChatGPT, which generated over $100 million in annualized revenue six weeks after launching in the United States.
