Anna de Peyster, also known as Anna Murdoch-Mann, a novelist and philanthropist, has died at the age of 81.

She was the former wife of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, to whom she was married from 1967 to 1999. De Peyster was the mother of three of Murdoch's children: Elisabeth, James, and Lachlan Murdoch, who currently serves as chairman of Fox and News Corp.

She was also stepmother to his daughter, Prudence. Her death was reported by the New York Post, one of her ex-husband's media properties.
