Mountain Village Mayor Marti Prohaska resigned after the town council announced an investigation into her late-December visit with Telluride resort owner Chuck Horning.

Prohaska and Telluride Mayor Pro Tem Meehan Fee, acting as private citizens, had offered Horning $127.5 million for a 51% share of the ski area, aiming to stabilize operations following a ski patrol strike. The proposed deal, which would have kept Horning as chairman, was leaked anonymously, leading Horning to state the ski area was not for sale.

Prohaska stated her resignation was to allow the community to heal and rebuild trust, acknowledging the "fiasco" had caused a loss of trust in local government. Telluride Mayor Teddy Errico supports the investigation, emphasizing the need to restore trust and focus on community issues.

Prohaska's family has deep roots in the Telluride resort's history.
